The Topic line should allow more characters. Right now I hit the limit too many times.

Need about 2x of what it is now.

  • Klopp Bring the Noise by Raphael Honigstein – A Book Review

For fans of Liverpool Football Club like myself, Jurgen Klopp is regarded with affection, respect and devotion for his achievements, leadership, passion, charisma and his humble personality. Since becoming Liverpool’s manager in October 2015, Klopp has connected with not only the fans, but also with the city of Liverpool. In addition, Klopp has also endeared himself with his sense of humour, evident from his interviews. Although 2020 has been a terrible year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has still brought one glorious shine of red light for me and millions of Reds. This was because Liverpool became Premier League champions for the first time in 30 years, after previously winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA World Club Cup last year. This success was masterminded and put together by Jurgen Klopp who previously managed Borussia Dortmund to Bundesliga success in Germany. Winning the Premier League with Liverpool, and how he built a successful team reminded me of Rafael Honigstein’s book Klopp Bring the Noise, which I first read in 2017 and enjoyed very much. Following the Reds title success, I recently read the book again and loved it even more, because I saw many similarities in how Klopp was successful and adored at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. Honigstein’s book captures the essence of Jurgen Klopp from his beginnings growing up in Glatten, to his playing career before getting into management with Mainz. From there, it chronicles how he led and inspired Dortmund to break[…]

  • The Scab Picker

As I child I received the usual number of knocks and bumps, cuts and the inevitable scabs that grew as my body healed itself. I enjoyed nothing more than spending time picking away at these scabs. I wanted to explore and uncover, pick and observe in fascinating as the pink flesh repaired itself. To this […] The post The Scab Picker appeared first on Maverick Tester.

  • Orchestrating System Test Automation for Visual Thinkers

Orchestrating System Test Automation for Visual Thinkers Working on a sizable system, feature after feature I found us struggling with timeliness of completing testing. Each feature kickoff, testerkind showed up to listen, and start learning. While development was ongoing, more learning through exploring took place. And in the end, after feature was completed, tests were documented in test automation, and just in case time taken for some more final exploring. It seemed like a solid recipe, but what I aspired for is finding a way where testing could walk more in sync with the development. The learning time was either half-attention, or elsewhere occupied, and it resembled a mini-waterfall for each feature. I formulated an experiment, with the intent of learning if being active with test automation implementation from the start would enable us to finish together. And so far, it is looking much better than  before. The way I approached test automation implementation was something I had not done before. It felt like a thing to try, to move focus from testerkind listening and learning to actively contributing and designing. In preparation for the feature kickoff, I draw an image of points of control and visibility, tailored to the specific feature. As I don't want to go revealing any specific of what we build, I drew a general purpose illustration of the idea. Each box on the main line were touch points where development for the feature would happen (pinks). Each box on the side was a touch point already existing in the system, found by analyzing the system for[…]
